At our kiln, we call the tea bowl that expands as it goes down, like the figure of eight, the Suehiro-gata. This shape of tea bowl has a large, solid and stable shape, like this one, and gives a strong impression.
In our kiln, most tea bowls of this shape are black raku. In Akaraku, when making tea bowls with a wide bottom, they are often made into a curved shape called Shirihari, which creates a gentle atmosphere.
